Workshops for Therapists and Counselors

The following Crucible® Approach workshops are currently offered: Crucible Approach workshops offer the insights of Dr. Schnarch's original paradigm shift, leaving behind traditional pathology-oriented sex and marital therapy, and marriage counseling based on empathy, safety, and communication skills. These training programs offer mental health professionals, and others involved in counseling individuals and couples, a core body of knowledge crucial to learning this unique approach, and are periodically updated to include Dr. Schnarch's newest leading-edge thinking. A complete series of learning experiences offer professionally and personally challenging opportunities to enhance your abilities in marriage counseling or as a sex and marital therapist.

Crucible Approach workshops teach clinicians how to use common and natural marriage troubles like sexual boredom, lack of intimacy, passionless sex, and emotional conflict to help people raise their differentiation (personal development) and their capacity for intimacy and eroticism. Rather than just helping clients "fix" their sexual and marital problems, these programs show how to offer marriage counseling and therapy that helps people explore their sexual potential. Crucible Approach workshops help therapists clinically implement the information provided in the books Passionate Marriage, Constructing the Sexual Crucible, and Resurrecting Sex. "Problem cases" for other contemporary counseling modes are often easily handled within the Crucible Approach.

Beyond offering a ground-breaking approach, Crucible Approach workshops help clinicians who are serious about their work become better therapists. Most Crucible Approach workshops include live clinical demonstrations of difficult cases, involving marital discord, sexual dysfunction or desire problems, and intimacy difficulties. Practical application in marriage counseling and sexual-marital therapy is emphasized.

The Two-Day Therapist Workshop provides a challenging in-depth experience of the Crucible Approach.

Application to attend Crucible Approach workshops is open to licensed mental health, counseling and medical practitioners, clergy, educators, and students working towards certification in these fields. Extensive Continuing Education Credits are available from various counseling and therapy licensing boards. Graduate students discounts are also available.
