Dr. Ruth MorehouseRuth Morehouse is a licensed clinical psychologist and certified sex therapist (awarded Diplomat status in recognition of her extensive professional experience). She brings a wide range of clinical expertise to her current position as Associate Director of the Marriage and Family Health Center. Ruth received her Doctor of Philosophy degree from Louisiana State University in 1977 with a major in clinical psychology and a minor in organizational psychology. Her dissertation investigated marital satisfaction and dyadic adjustment in couples. Subsequently Ruth served as Director of Inpatient and Outpatient Psychological Services at JoEllen Smith Psychiatric Center in New Orleans for nine years. She also developed and directed a comprehensive Women's Program that treated eating disorders, sexual abuse, relationship problems and other women's issues. Dr. Morehouse has also directed an alternative school for adolescents and was instrumental in an innovative Women's Depression Project serving under-privileged women in New Orleans.Ruth has also brought her psychological acumen to the business and organizational world. She provided psychological assessment and consultation to a large utility company, served as a consultant to government agencies, and trained and educated a wide variety of organizations on subjects ranging from sexual harassment, building team morale, developing leadership skills, and empowering women in corporations. At the Marriage and Family Health Center, Ruth conducts Intensive Therapy Weekends with couples from around the world, including those with sexual difficulties. Ruth is co-leader of the Passionate Marriage Couples Retreats and Couples Enrichment Weekends. She created and led the MFHC Women's Retreats for many years. A revised women's retreat program will debut in the spring of 2006. Ruth enjoys doing training and presenting workshops on a variety of topics, including issues ranging from resolving sexual problems to enhancing sexual potential, sex and aging, and doing therapy in the Crucible Approach. Dr. Morehouse is sought-after as a speaker and has presented internationally in countries such as Singapore, Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands. Ruth is a passionate community activist. Her current activities include positions on the Board of Directors of the Evergreen Art Council, and the Executive Board of Leadership Evergreen. She is enthusiastic about developing leadership skills in adolescents and has spent the last three years on the staff of The Colorado Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Summer Conference.
