Intensive Therapy Program

For years, couples across the nation and around the world have flown to Colorado for sexual and marital therapy. They come for our Intensive Therapy Program, a series of sessions conducted in half-day blocks over several consecutive days. Some couples are in marital therapy in their local community and come to us to work on specific issues in their relationship or family. Many were marital therapists seeking treatment for themselves. Others wanted more individual attention than our Passionate Marriage® Couples Retreat offers. Another group attended our Passionate Marriage Couple's Enrichment Weekend and wanted to grow further. Colorado couples seeking marital therapy locally find this a time-effective option that fits their lifestyle. A series of intensive closely spaced sessions offers advantages that traditional weekly sessions cannot match.

The speed at which the "crucible" develops--therapy starts to happen--is often unparalleled. People experience the "turning point" nature of their lives at greater depth. This rapid beginning helps people stop "dancing around" and go through the natural people-growing processes hidden within relationship problems and marital and family difficulties. Developing in a matter of hours rather than weeks or months, the process feels and operates differently.

The intensive therapy format is a powerful way to develop new (more accurate) ways of understanding yourself and your situation -- and put them into action. It helps couples and families become better differentiated and change entrenched ways of relating. The Sexual Crucible® Approach (used in the Intensive Therapy Program) encourages partners and family members to develop their "self" while facilitating emotional connection. Even when treatment focuses on a marital issue for a couple, the benefits often ripple through the entire family (children and grandparents) and business life as well.

Intensive therapy sessions typically occur morning or afternoon during the week or Wednesday through Saturday or Thursday through Sunday on selected weekends. The sessions are held at Marriage and Family Health Center facilities in Evergreen, Colorado. Follow-up phone sessions are available, providing the option of ongoing marital help. In many cases, appointments can be arranged quickly, although at other times, depending on availability, it may take several months to schedule your visit. The Center can assist with travel arrangements including referrals to local Colorado bed-and-breakfasts with wonderful facilities and friendly service. For many, visiting Colorado is a welcome get-away. Located just 25 miles outside Denver in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, year-round recreation opportunities abound nearby. Intensive Therapy sessions are an especially attractive option for those living locally and seeking marital therapy in Colorado.

Intensives for Individuals and Families

Singles use intensives to address situational issues or transitions in their life or for personal development. Families come for intensives to work through relationship problems and difficult issues involving children, money, in-laws, careers or family businesses.

The Marriage and Family Health Center also provides other options for sexual and marital therapy for Coloradoans with scheduling tailored to specific needs on a weekly, biweekly or monthly basis. Our full range of hourly services also includes individual, family and group psychotherapy.
